The word universe immediately brings thoughts of a vast, dark, star-lit sky; far-away regions of the unknown; and (maybe) a desire to fl y into that unknown and discover brave new worlds. It has intrigued man forever. Genesis speaks of the creation of the heavens. Moses declared the heavens belonged to God. Solomon declared the heavens could not contain God. Nehemiah, Job, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Zechariah each referred to the heavens that God created. It is far greater than anything man can ever imagine?and yet it holds little interest to God, who uses it only to capture the attention of His beloved children.
A teen's life is like the universe?a vast unknown, often dark, often full of shining stars, calling out to the adventurer who sees shooting sparks of ideas and desires, sometimes only to watch them fi zzle and fade. Just as mankind is constantly discovering new things about our universe, so do teenages constantly discover new things about life. They will try to pretend they know it all, that they do not care, and that they do not need anyone. And yet, they are always searching, wanting to be the brave adventurers, longing to discover who they are, what makes them tick, what is their destiny. |
